The 12th of April was my first full day of a Road Scholar Photography trip to Costa Rica. What an amazing adventure. Costa Rica is an absolutely beautiful country, full of beautiful people, flowers, wildlife and scenery. I wish I could share all the pictures I took, but I'm limited to twelve. Come along and see what I saw on the 12th.

The first of many orchids I would see - Casa Conde, San Jose - 7:49 a.m.

A typical Costa Rican ox cart. This one was at El Jardin, a small restaurant
and garden where we stopped for a lunch of Casados, which is a
plate consisting of salad, plaintains, rice, black beans and fish,
chicken, beef or pork. 12:45 p.m.

Pretty orange Hibiscus at El Jardin - 12:48 p.m.

Fountain and orchids in the butterfly garden at El Jardin - 12:58 p.m.

My first picture of a Heliconia Rostrata - 1:06 p.m.

A Blue Morpho butterfly showing the under side of its wings, the outer edges
of which look like caterpillars. Prey will go after the "caterpillars" rather than
the body; thus, the ragged edges but very much alive butterfly. 1:10 p.m.

Pink Ginger flower (non-edible Ginger) at the gardens outside Saint
John Bosco Catholic Church in La Fortuna de San Carlos - 3:27 p.m.

Inside Saint John Bosco Catholic Church in La Fortuna de San Carlos - 3:29 p.m.

Bird of Paradise flower at the gardens outside Saint
John Bosco Catholic Church in La Fortuna de San Carlos - 3:54 p.m.

My first view of the Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica's most active volcano,
located in Northwestern Costa Rica in the Alajuela Province. We
were lucky to get a clear view of the Volcano.....many visitors spend days in
the area and never see the top, due to clouds. We not only saw the top
but also saw steam spewing from the top (just no major eruptions). 4:24 p.m.

Another view of the Volcano from the stream below - 4:57 p.m.

The view from my bed in the Arenal Observatory Lodge. You can see
that the clouds have come in and obscured the top of the Volcano - 5:29 p.m.

that was quite the adventure and what a great view from your room!! i'm sure you enjoyed it. i have a friend who went on an orchid farm in COSTA RICA and she totally enjoyed it, for the beauty, the calm, the sheer awesomeness of the place. pity you limited yourself to 12 pics here. you know how some of us like to break the rules...

Sunny, travel more. You have a very good eye. Thanks again.
I've been out of pocket with no permanent place to live for the past few months. Thant all changes next week but in the mean time I thought I would pop around and see what other's have been doing for 12 of 12. I absolutely love the picture underneath the bridge across the river. Brilliant! Anyway, I enjoyed the rest of the pictures as usual. Hope to be amongst the picture sharers next month. So I'll see you soon. Take care and as always thanks for sharing your day...
